Governments and not-for-profit organisations are continually seeking innovative answers to complex challenges. They are striving to provide better services at lower costs and to ensure sustainable economic development, a safe environment, more transparency and increased accountability. Ernst & Young combines private sector leading practices with an understanding of the public sector’s diverse needs, focusing on building organisations’ capability to deliver improved public services.
In response to the move to “the demand-driven” model, Ernst & Young commissioned a major project to assess the possible impact on the sector – resulting in the EY Report, “Higher Education and the power of choice – Reform, competition and the emerging consumer-driven market in higher education”.
In addition to working with approximately 30 of Australia’s universities over the last 2 years in a range of areas, we are equally committed to the promotion of Education as a social good, through our support for Teach for Australia and the Australian Business and Community Network, both initiatives targeted at disadvantaged schools. We also sponsor The Conversation, a national, not-for-profit group bringing original content and independent commentary and analysis from the university sector to the broader community.
The role of Education in our society is critical – contributing to our national productivity, as a major expert earner, its role to promoting social inclusion as well as being a “social good” in its own right.
